Patrick Deuel was an American man who gained international attention for his struggle with obesity. At his heaviest, Deuel weighed over 1,000 pounds and was considered one of the heaviest people in the world. He was confined to his bed for several years and required round-the-clock care.
In an effort to improve his health and quality of life, Deuel underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2004. The surgery was successful in helping him lose a significant amount of weight, and he continued to make progress through diet and exercise.
Deuel’s journey was documented in the TLC reality television show “Half Ton Dad” in 2008. He also wrote a book about his experiences titled “I'm Fat, Losing Weight, and Becoming My Father.”
Sadly, Deuel passed away in 2016 at the age of 52. His story continues to serve as an inspiration for those struggling with obesity and health issues.
